“It’s rewarding work. Like many nurses, I am a helper by nature. Knowing that something I have done has helped someone else is one of the greatest rewards.”

For as long as Ayesha can remember, she has seen herself as someone who lends a helping hand to support others. This innate quality led her to pursue a career as a Registered Nurse (RN) and specialize in home and community care, where she can provide essential healthcare support to people in their homes.

“I prefer the ability to work with patients holistically and individually in an environment that supports them most effectively,” she says. “Home care was that environment for me.”

Career growth with ParaMed

With two decades of experience under her belt, Ayesha has dedicated her career to nursing.

Ayesha joined the ParaMed team because she enjoyed her previous experience working as a visiting nurse for the organization.

Since returning to ParaMed, Ayesha has grown in her career working as a Care and Services Manager, leading the PSW (Personal Support Worker) and nursing programs at her branch.

Most recently, Ayesha has become an Allied Health Manager for ParaMed and oversees rehabilitation programs that include occupational therapy, physiotherapy, social work, and speech-language pathology which are vital in improving the well-being of patients and clients.

As an Allied Health Manager, Ayesha is responsible for ensuring quality patient care, efficient department operations, and the professional growth of therapists under her supervision.

“As a manager, I am always available to support my team in any capacity,” she says. “Hopefully this enables them to provide the most effective care to our patients. I work with the team to enable them to become the best they can in their roles.”

“There is a tremendous opportunity for growth and advancement at ParaMed for those who want to invest and put in the effort. “Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. The only failures come from the risks not taken, everything else is just an opportunity to learn and develop.”

As for Ayesha, her journey in home care doesn’t stop here. She aspires to pursue her Master’s Degree in Nursing, with a focus on nursing leadership and education, and says, “I am a nurse because I was always meant to be a nurse.”
