ParaMed’s 2022 Year in Review | Strengthening Care at Home
As the population ages and our hospitals struggle with capacity challenges, the thousands of patients awaiting care at home need to be better served. They deserve a stronger system, with more trained, available staff, ready to deliver the support they need.
In 2022, we worked to strengthen our ParaMed team, prioritized new investments in technology and frontline training and supports, and worked to help solve sector-wide challenges.
Throughout the year, we:
✅ Welcomed our first Chief Nursing Executive to help grow our clinical excellence and build on our commitment to improve patients’ experiences
✅ Completed a network-wide review of our operations by Accreditation Canada to ensure our care and services meet independent standards
✅ Enhanced our Skills Labs with improved tools, providing team members with stronger hands-on training opportunities
✅ Developed and deployed in-house training programs for Home Support Workers, with more than 1,500 new graduates hired
✅ Continued to celebrate Care Champions who go above and beyond every single day for those we serve
✅ Partnered with Conestoga College and Fleming College to fund two new training programs, and welcomed graduates of the programs to our team
✅ Supported 175 team members with leadership development through our Leadership Academy
✅ Launched a PSW to RPN sponsorship program for our staff who are working to increase their professional credentials
✅ Worked with international organizations to bring foreign trained staff to Canada to increase our frontline capacity
✅ Launched a Patient and Family Advisory Council to work in closer partnership with our patients and families
✅ Advanced upgrades to communications systems across ParaMed to facilitate connections between patients and our team members
The work does not stop here. We remain focused on doing our part to strengthen care at home in the year ahead.
